Liquor Bottle Attack Leaves Joliet Motorist Hospitalized: Police
The victim stopped the vehicle and made Richard Redmond, age 44, get out of the vehicle during an argument, Joliet police announced.

JOLIET, IL — A 44-year-old Joliet man from the city's southeast side is back in the Will County Jail after Richard Redmond attacked someone who gave him a ride on Monday night, according to Joliet police reports. The victim's head injuries has left them hospitalized.
For the fourth time since 2020, Redmond is back in the Will County Jail, his latest charges are two counts of aggravated battery. Redmond comes from the 700 block of South Des Plaines Street, just down the street from the Joliet police station.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Redmond's arrest and detention at the Will County Jail on Monday night:

- At 7:46 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Des Plaines Street for a disturbance.
- The victim stopped the vehicle and made Redmond get out of the vehicle during an argument. Redmond exited the vehicle and struck the victim in the head with a glass liquor bottle, causing the victim to fall to the ground.
- Redmond then struck the victim in the head numerous times while the victim was on the ground. Redmond was on the scene and was placed into custody without incident. The victim was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident
