Man At Joliet Walmart On Route 59 Must Lose His 2014 Ford Fusion To Police: Glasgow
The Will County State's Attorney's Office wants to make the 2014 Ford Fusion of Vincent Bond a forfeited asset for the police. Here's why.

JOLIET, IL — Vincent Bond, a 59-year-old Joliet man from the 400 block of Herkimer Street, has remained in the Will County Jail since Feb. 17, and now his legal troubles are mounting. Last week, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow filed a civil forfeiture case seeking to make Bond's 2014 Ford Fusion a forfeited asset for the police.
According to the court files, Bond used his Ford Fusion in connection with a retail theft of more than $300 of merchandise on Feb. 2 in Joliet. Bond, Tyler Grigsby and William Nobles all entered the Walmart store "with the intent to commit a retail theft," the court documents indicate.
That day, a Joliet police officer was sent to the Walmart store on Route 59 in regard to a delayed retail theft incident. A loss prevention security worker told the officer that two men had stolen items from the store earlier that day. The stolen items had a value of $318.20, with additional items inside a large tote bag that Walmart was unable to identify.

Walmart notified Joliet police that the thieves entered the Route 59 store at 5:05 p.m. and left 10 minutes later. The staff followed the thieves out to the parking lot and watched them drive away in Bond's 2014 Ford Fusion, court files indicate. One additional suspect also exited the store and left in another vehicle, but he did not take any merchandise, the forfeiture noted.
On Feb. 4, Joliet police detective John Beck met with a Walmart employee who advised him that the first two suspects were leaving with the stolen merchandise while the third suspect met with them and left the shopping cart inside the store and proceeded to leave with them. Suspect No. 3 was identified as Bond, who was the driver of the Ford Fusion, according to the forfeiture complaint.

On Feb. 5, Joliet police located Bond's vehicle and pulled him over.
"Bond was informed that the Ford had been used in a prior retail theft incident and probable cause existed to seize the vehicle," the complaint outlined.
The forfeiture of Bond's Ford Fusion is set for a Will County Courthouse hearing on April 29.
