Man Selling Drugs from Barbershop Busted by Joliet Police

Terrance Brooks was arrested Friday when officers found crack cocaine and cannabis in his possession and in his store, police said.

A Joliet man who was selling drugs out of his barbershop was arrested in a raid carried out Friday, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

Terrance D. Brooks, 35, of 904 Sudbury Drive, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. at Brooks Barber & Beauty Shop, 317 E. Cass St., when police entered the business with a search warrant to look for drugs, Roechner said.

They found 1.5 grams of crack cocaine and about half a gram of cannabis in Brooks' possession, and another 10.6 grams of crack cocaine in three plastic baggies in a rear room, he said. Brooks cooperated with police, directing them to where they would find the cocaine, he said.

Brooks' business was last in the news this past February when armed robbers entered the store and stole hair clippers valued at $1,200, $500 cash and cell phones from patrons and employees.

Brooks was charged possession of any controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis. He was taken to the Will County jail and released on $20,000 bond.

According to jail and circuit clerk records, Brooks has been previously arrested in 2008 and 2009 on charges of domestic battery.
