Drive-By Shootout On Joliet's Oneida Street Leaves 1 Man Wounded
The shoot-out involving two crossing cars happened around 11:30 a.m. according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL - Late Thursday morning, while most of Joliet was busy at work or attending school, two men were clutching their loaded guns, driving past the 300 block of Oneida Street, trying to shoot one another. One car was driving east. The other driver was headed west. Around 11:30 a.m., both drivers opened fire on each other's cars, according to Joliet police. One of the bullets penetrated the driver's side door of a 27-year-old Joliet resident's car. He got the shot in the leg. The other shooter hit the gas and sped away.
The 27-year-old man who got shot, who Joliet police say is well-known to the police department, managed to drive his car another block or so, before getting out and seeking help. People in the 200 block of Broadway Street called police. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance also responded and rushed the shooting victim to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Joliet police say it's their understanding the gunshot wounds were not life-threatening.
At the scene, Joliet police officers recovered a semi-automatic handgun that was used during the drive-by shooting by the 27-year-old man who got shot in the leg. The investigation into Thursday's non-fatal shooting is still continuing, deputy chief of police Ed Gregory said.
