Mariano's Alcohol Thief Gets High Bail: Complaint
Michael D. Lewis was arrested by Shorewood's Police Department.

SHOREWOOD, IL - A 55-year-old Chicago man remains locked away inside the Will County Jail after being arrested by Shorewood's Police Department on two counts of theft. Michael D. Lewis was taken away in handcuffs on Oct. 9 after he visited the Mariano's store at 950 Brookforest Avenue.
The criminal complaint states that Lewis "knowingly took possession of ... beer and tequila" while inside the Shorewood Mariano's. The complaint notes that Lewis is already a convicted thief.
He was convicted of theft in 1997 in Vermilion County, court documents show.

Lewis' bail for the Mariano case was set at $60,000. The judge also ordered him to stay away from any Mariano stores while his criminal case proceeds in Will County.
Will County Jail records show that Lewis also faces a police hold from Orland Park and a police hold out of Evergreen Park. He remained lodged in Will County's Jail as of Tuesday afternoon with his total bail being $70,000, logs reflect.
