MyGrain Taps New Brew: It's Unlike The Others

It's 9.2 percent alcohol. Can you handle this?

JOLIET, IL - One of the greatest additions to the city of Joliet has been the downtown MyGrain Brewing Company, which opened in September 2017 inside the historic Union Station. MyGrain produces some of the finest craft beers in the Chicago market and Friday marked another milestone. MyGrain tapped its first Dopplebock.

The new beer - 9.2 percent alcohol - is called Ze World's Greatest Dopplebock.

It's available in a 14-ounce teardrop glass for $6, a 32-ounce crowler for $13 and a 1/6 BBL Keg is $75.

MyGrain Brewing co-owner Vincent Turrise told Joliet Patch on Friday that he's excited to see the reaction around the Joliet area to the latest craft beer addition.

"This is 9 percent," he reiterated. "It's a good, general winter style. It's just a good beer to drag people out of the winter vortex."

If you want to give the new Dobblebock a try, you'll probably want to head downtown in the coming weeks.

"It's probably going to be a unique seasonal," Turrise told Patch.

Ze World's Greatest Doppleback is described on MyGrain's beer menu as "smooth and sweet, brewed with noble hops and dark Munich malts in the traditional German style. It might not be ze greatest of all time, but we're sure you'll love this tasty lager."

As of Friday's addition, MyGrain now has a total of 18 different craft beers, all made in downtown Joliet, on its beer menu.

On another positive note: MyGrain rolled out its new Sunday brunch menu in January and, so far, it's been incredibly well received, Turrise said.

In addition to the regular Sunday brunch menu, the chefs at MyGrain also have an Avocado Toast for $12.95: Toasted Sourdough, Italian stile avocado puree, bacon, Aurgula, radishes and poached eggs. There's also the Steak Eggs for $21.95: an 8 ounce steak, balsamic marinated, trufle potatoes, Chimichurri sauce, over easy eggs.

For Sunday brunchers who want to reserve a seat, MyGrain Brewing's phone number is 815-345-3339. Here is the website for MyGrain Brewing.
