Now Kevin Reed Gets Arrested For Climbing Into Window: Police

Reed also got arrested Monday night after he sprayed his girlfriend with her can of pepper spray, according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL - Kevin Reed's legal troubles at the Will County Courthouse are growing like a weed. On Monday evening, the Joliet Police Department booked Reed into Will County's Jail at 7:42 p.m. on three counts of domestic violence over at a house in the 800 block of John Street. Reed, 32, spent the night in jail. Reed was let out of jail at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday. By 11:45 p.m., Reed was back in Will County's jail again, this time he was charged with violating his bond and violating a protection order.

First the background. On Monday, Reed got arrested after Joliet police say he became physically violent against his 24-year-old girlfriend at the house on John Street. When she pulled out a can of pepper spray and threatened to use it, he grabbed it out of her hand and gave her two sprays into her eyes, Joliet police say. On Monday night, jail logs indicated that Reed resided at the Daybreak Shelter on Cass Street. After he was released from jail around supper time Tuesday, Reed did not head to the homeless shelter, police say.

Instead, around 8 p.m., Reed reappeared at the home in the 800 block of John Street, the home of his now ex-girlfriend, according to Deputy Chief of Police Ed Gregory.

"He was attempting to climb in through a window, and this caused the alarm to go off," Gregory said. A 19-year-old man who is staying at the property then tried to push Reed out of the window. The day before, Reed was wildly swinging a knife at the 19-year-old man while standing out on the front porch, Gregory said.

Realizing that police cars were in route, Reed drove away from the house on John Street before the Joliet police cars arrived, Gregory said.

Around 10 p.m., over on the east side, Joliet police officers located Reed near the corner of Cass and Briggs Streets, which is near the 7-Eleven and Highland Liquors businesses. So, for the second straight night, Joliet police officers slapped the handcuffs on Reed and put him in the back of a squad car and gave him a ride downtown.

This time, Reed was charged with violating a protection order and violating his bond, Gregory said.

Reed was slated to go before a Will County judge for another bond hearing on Wednesday afternoon, jail records indicate.
