Leroy married Doris (Powers) on April 25, 1976. Soon after, they started a family and made a home in Lockport, where they raised 3 boys.

After 22 years in Lockport, Doris and Leroy moved to their long time vacation spot in Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks. They loved being on the farm where they raised horses and cows. As much as Leroy loved being in the South and the simple life, Doris was able to convince him to move back to Illinois in 2017 to be with family and friends.

Leroy and Doris adored their children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment spent with them. In Jan 2021, Leroy’s loving wife of 44 years passed away fairly suddenly from stage 4 lung cancer.

Leroy was a good man. He always put other people’s needs before his own and would do anything for anyone. He was a very loving compassionate father and friend who was cherished by everyone.

Leroy lived a blessed life. His son, Bob, said it best hours before Leroy’s passing, “Life is not about the money you have, the prestigious job you attain, or the car you drive; Life is about the people you touch, the love you give, and the time well spent helping family, friends, and even strangers.”

Leroy leaves behind his loving children: Charles Jr (Becky), Robert (Andrea), and Christopher (Shamile); His loving grandchildren: Nakariel, Nathan, Mira, Miranda, Eastin, Allison, Brynlee, and Kherington; His brother LC (Sue) Mcbroom and his sister Linda; Brother-in-laws Lewis (Lisa) Powers, Robert Jr (Debbie) Powers, and Bob Novak; Also numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents Leonard McBroom and Lorene McClain; His life partner Doris Ann McBroom; Siblings Shirley Waters, Mary Lydell (in infancy), Harold Wayne McBroom, Calvin Leonard McBroom, Debbie Byrd, Connie Archer, and Mark Anthony McBroom (in infancy); and Sister-in-law Brenda Novak.

Rest In Peace Leroy McBroom. Job well done…job well done.
