Armed Robbery Suspect Escapes Police After West Loop Holdup
UPDATED: The man was believed to be barricaded in a building near Lake and Clinton streets Friday, but he was gone when a SWAT team entered.

CHICAGO, IL — A suspect in the armed robbery of a doughnut shop in the West Loop escaped police Friday afternoon after a SWAT team shut down streets and surrounded the area near the alleged crime scene, according to reports.
A man allegedly robbed a Dunkin' Donuts in the 500 block of West Lake Street at gunpoint, according to Paul Konrad of WGN-TV. The gunman then fled to a nearby building, the report added.
Police responded to the robbery at about 12:42 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, the Chicago Tribune reports. That's when officers believed the possible suspect in the holdup was barricaded in a building near Lake and Clinton streets, the report added.

A SWAT team was called to the scene, and police shut down Lake Street between Clinton and Jefferson streets, Sara Jindra of WGN reports. At least one building also was in a lockdown, according to online reports.
When the SWAT team eventually entered the building, the supsect was not inside, the Tribune reports.

Currently, there have been no reports of injuries stemming from the alleged robbery or the baricade situation, WGN reports.
