Stickup On Jefferson Street, 2 Arrested In Chicago Heights: JPD

Chicago Police helped Joliet Police solve the Saturday night crime.

JOLIET, IL - Joliet Police say they solved a Saturday night stickup at the AT&T Store on West Jefferson Street with the arrests of 18-year-old Allen D. Johnson of Chicago Heights and 20-year-old Sean M. Watson of Hazel Crest. The crime happened at 7:42 p.m. and involved the thefts of several cellular phones.

Now, Watson and Johnson have landed in the Will County Jail. Both young men are charged with armed robbery.

At 7:42 p.m., Joliet Police say they responded to a hold-up alarm at 1728 W. Jefferson St. By the time officers arrived, the robbers had escaped in their getaway vehicle. "The offenders displayed firearms during the robbery," Joliet Police announced.

Several minutes afterward, police spotted the getaway car heading eastbound along Interstate 80. However, "officers eventually lost sight of the vehicle," reports show.

Fortunately, Joliet Police got some help from the Chicago Police Department's helicopter unit. The helicopter "was able to watch [the] suspects go to a house in the 300 block of Hickory in Chicago Heights," according to Joliet Police.

Police from several agencies surrounded and stormed the house.

"Officers eventually made entry into the residence and located Johnson and Watson inside," Joliet Police said. "Proceeds of the robbery were located along with two firearms."
