Suicidal, Armed Man Barricaded in House Surrenders: Cops

The Crest Hill man was taken to a Joliet hospital for an evaluation.

A suicidal, armed man barricaded himself in his home and kept the cops at bay Wednesday morning before surrendering peacefully, police said.

The man was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet for an evaluation.

Friends of the man reportedly told police that he was despondent and talking about killing himself. The friends also said the man had more than one gun in his Manor Court house, police said.

The man eventually came outside and the standoff ended without incident.
