Teenager Arrested In West-Side Home Invasion
17-year-old arrested after fleeing traffic stop, police said.

A teenager has been arrested in connection with an early morning home invasion, according to Joliet police.
The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Castle Ridge Drive when at least two suspects entered the home, according to police.
Police said three as many as people were home during the incident. A victim told police he was sleeping when he awoke to the sound of his girlfriend screaming, according to Capt. Tab Jensen.

The man told police someone placed a pillowcase over his face and his hands were bound with zip ties. The suspect or suspects then demanded money, police said. After being told where money was located, they fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.
The victim and his girlfriend, who also had her hands bound with zip ties, refused treatment at the scene and told police they would drive to a hospital for treatment of minor injures, Jensen said.

According to Jensen, the 17-year-old juvenile suspect was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped at around 9:31 p.m. Monday. The teen allegedly got out of the vehicle and ran, attempting to hide behind a tree in the 2500 block of Plainfield Road.
The teen was taken into custody and identified as a suspect in the home invasion, according to Jensen.
Currency allegedly stolen in the home invasion was recovered, and the teen was also found to be in possession of 3.3 grams of cannabis and what appeared to be a counterfeit $20 bill, WJOL reported.
According to police reports, the juvenile, whose name was not released, is charged with residential burglary, aggravated battery, forgery, possession of cannabis and obstructing a peace officer.
Jensen said the incident remains under investigation and police are working to locate an additional suspect or suspects.
