JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old man who comes from Punta Gorda, Florida, is now lodged in downtown Joliet at the Will County Jail after Joliet police say Daniel Hilts caused a disturbance early Monday morning at the Anthony's Restaurant & Pub.
By 4:20 a.m. Hilts was booked into the Will County Jail where his bail is $25,000 on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault, obstructing justice, criminal trespass to property and resisting arrest.
Monday's early morning arrest happened around 1:50 a.m. Joliet police were at the bar working a special assignment job, according to the Florida man's arrest reports.

After Anthony's bouncers removed Hilts from the building because Hilts was too intoxicated, Joliet officers saw Hilts go to his car in hopes of driving away, police noted.
Officers told Hilts "he could not drive due to his intoxication level, suggesting he either walk or summon a ride-share service to his nearby hotel. Hilts refused all transportation offers given by Officers and staff on scene and refused to leave the property, arrest reports indicate.

According to police, Hilts tried to lunge at the police after being informed he had to leave Anthony's on Voyager Lane. After a brief struggle, Hilts was placed into custody and transported to the Joliet Police Department for processing, authorities said.
"While at the Joliet Police Department, Hilts refused to cooperate with booking procedures. Hilts then repeatedly spit on an Officer in the face. Hilts was then transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility," police spokesman Olin Torkelson announced.
Hilts remained incarcerated on Tuesday afternoon, unable to post the necessary 10 percent to regain his freedom.
