Troy 30-C Pushes Back Full Hybrid Transition By 2 Weeks
School board also raises substitute teacher pay to daily rate of $125

To allow for a 14-day COVID-19 quarantine period after Christmas break, the Troy Community School District 30-C school board moved the start date of its Stage 4 Return to Full Hybrid Education from January 11 to January 20.
Students will still return to school on the original date of January 4, but they will stay in Stage 3 until January 20.
Troy’s COVID Stage 4 learning period will transition students to a full hybrid model, where all students who chose in-person instruction will be in the schools five days/week, for four-hour in-person morning learning and one-hour remote afternoon learning.

“This allows us a 14-day quarantine period after the break, when it is very likely that people will be participating in larger social gatherings,” Superintendent Dr. Todd Koehl explained. “The plan builds on the idea of introducing small, specific groups of students back into an in-person environment.”
Stage 4 will transition from Stage 3, where students will be split into A/B groups and will not attend five days a week.

Also at Troy’s October school board meeting, members approved an increase in pay for substitute teachers. Effective October 26, substitute teachers at Troy’s seven schools will be earning a daily rate of $125, up from $115.
The district also recently set the pay rate of morning substitute teachers who work only during student attendance hours at $100.
