JOLIET, IL —A 41-year-old waitress at the Louie's Waffle House on Joliet's west side remains in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say she attacked another waitress in the kitchen, punching her fellow employee while the victim remained on the ground.

A resident of the 200 block of Kathryn Place, Elizabeth Marshalek was booked into the Will County Jail early Saturday morning. Bail was set at $15,000. Marshalek remained in custody on Monday afternoon, unable to post bond, jail logs show.

Joliet police were trying to arrest Marshalek during the past several months, according to details of this weekend's arrest report.

Around 11 a.m. back on April 12, Joliet officers were called to the Louie's Waffle House, 1776 McDonough St., after learning of a fight.

"A fight had occurred between two waitresses while in the kitchen area of the restaurant," Joliet police reports show. "During an argument, it was believed that Marshalek pushed another female adult into a door, causing her to fall to the ground."

Marshalek's violent behavior escalated, according to Joliet police.

"Marshalek continued to punch the victim as she was on the ground. Staff intervened and ended the fight and Marshalek was sent home," police reports reflect.

In the coming days, Joliet police were unsuccessful finding Marshalek, according to department spokesman Dwayne English.

On May 12, Joliet police got a warrant signed by a Will County authorizing Marshalek's arrest on four counts of battery. For six months, Marshalek avoided capture, but around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Joliet police pulled her over and took her away in handcuffs.

Officers stopped her car for an equipment violation near Glenwood Avenue and Infantry Drive and "she was placed into custody without incident after it was determined that she was wanted on the above-listed warrant," English said.
