Joliet Murder Victim's Funeral Is Friday In Frankfort
Marissa Koziel's slain body was dumped on Joliet's east side. So far, no arrests have been made.

JOLIET, IL - Friends and family of Marissa Koziel will gather on Thursday and Friday at the Gerardi Funeral Home in Frankfort to remember the young woman from Will County whose death was ruled a homicide. The 21-year-old former Manhattan resident was found dead last Friday on Joliet's east side, not far from the roadway along California Avenue. An autopsy determined that Koziel died from a single gunshot wound. The Will County Sheriff's Department suspects that Koziel was killed somewhere else and that her body was dumped in Joliet Township's Forest Park area by her killer, who remains at large.
"Marissa was a beautiful soul who was taken much too soon from her family. She will be dearly remembered for her passion, humor and joyful smile," notes her published obituary.
Funeral visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Gerardi Funeral Home, which is one block east of LaGrange Road on Route 30 in Frankfort. The funeral service and burial will be on Friday.
