Woman Gunned Down on Joliet's East Side

A woman was shot to death while riding in a car on Joliet’s east side Tuesday.

The woman was in a car on Mississippi Avenue near First Avenue when “multiple” gunmen opened fire, police said.

The wounded woman was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, an official said.

The shooters fled the area on foot, police said.
