Yanni's Joliet Rialto Concert Less Than A Month Away

JOLIET, IL - The Earth's rotation will not be coming to a stop when Yanni visits downtown Joliet next month, but the invasion of the world-famous New Age musician is definitely a big deal for the Rialto Square Theatre. In August, Rialto officials announced that Yanni will be performing at 8 p.m. on October 28. The event is heralded as "An Intimate Evening With Yanni, Piano And Intimate Conversation." Yanni's upcoming show is one of several big-name acts coming to Joliet's Rialto. The theater has lined up the band REO Speedwagon for a January 13 concert. On Friday morning, the Rialto announced that comedian Dennis Miller will perform on January 12.

Tickets for REO Speedwagon went on sale two weeks ago, and the popular music band's January 13 performance is already a near-sellout, Rialto officials confirmed.

"There are only scattered single tickets," Rialto's director of development Jack Ericksen told Joliet Patch. "That one sold very quickly in the first 48 hours."

As for Yanni, the Rialto has already sold about 1,500 seats. The theater can accommodate about 1,900 guests. Regarding Yanni, "we still have good seats available," Ericksen said on Friday. "We're very pleased with both of them."

Ericksen also teased that the Rialto plans to be unveiling a handful of other big-name acts within the next couple of weeks. He said he isn't ready to disclose the acts just yet. "I think people are going to be very excited about it," he said.
