Brookfield Zoo Announces New 3D Theater

The two 20-minute films alternate every half hour and give zoogoers an incredibly immersive experience.

BROOKFIELD, IL — The Chicago Zoological Society, which manages the Brookfield Zoo, is excited to announce its new 3D theater located in the zoo’s Discovery Center. According to the zoo, captivating and educational 3D films are available for viewing daily beginning at 10 a.m. The two 20-minute films alternate every half hour and give zoogoers an immersive experience right from their seats before heading out to see the animals.

The first film, "Wild Africa", a series created and produced by BBC Earth, explores the natural history of the African continent and features the lives of some of the most iconic African animals giving insight to how their lives are affected by the presence and absence of water, the zoo said in a release.

The second film also created and produced by BBC Earth, "Walking with Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Planet 3D", illustrates how paleontologists imagine a year in the lives of a herd of plant-eating dinosaurs. Through imagination and creativity using computer-generated imagery, scientists and producers were able to recreate dinosaurs in their natural habitats for the series.
