LA GRANGE PARK, IL – Critics of Lyons Township High School contend local private schools have drawn more students in the last year.
For one private school, the numbers show the critics are right.
On Friday, Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park released to Patch its enrollment numbers for the last three years.

This year's enrollment at the Catholic high school stands at 763 students, up 6.3 percent from the previous year. The student numbers were 718 in 2021-2022 and 722 in 2020-2021.
Late last month, Lyons Township High School told Patch its enrollment stood at 3,859, its lowest number in a dozen years.

The high school reached a high of 4,125 in 2019, falling 6 percent since then.
The school's critics have blamed the falling enrollment on pandemic restrictions, dropping test scores, equity efforts or a combination of those factors.
