LA GRANGE, IL — The village of La Grange has joined several other communities across the area to express concern and look for additional information regarding ethylene oxide emissions from Willowbrook-based facility Sterigenics.

Most recently, on Tuesday, the Illinois EPA announced it is now seeking an order directing Sterigenics to stop operations until a full review of the additional modeling and risk assessment can be completed or until the U.S. EPA can assure the community that Sterigenics' operations pose no elevated health risks. According to the agency, the Illinois EPA has referred an enforcement action to the Illinois Attorney General's Office against Sterigenics, based on the findings of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
