La Grange Schools: Pandemic Losses Wiped Away

LA GRANGE, IL – Drops in pandemic-era test scores in the La Grange area's three elementary school districts were wiped away last school year.

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness has been given annually to third through eighth graders since 2019 (2020 excluded).

Last week, the state released the test data for the 2023-24 year.

The three La Grange area school systems are La Grange District 102, La Grange District 105 and La Grange Highlands 106. All three saw increases in their test scores last year.

Of the three districts, La Grange Highlands saw the highest percentages of students meeting state standards in math and English language arts last school year. Its rate of low-income students – at 2 percent – is the lowest of the three.

La Grange District 105's test scores were about the same as District 102, even though District 105's rate of low-income students – at 40 percent – is more than four times larger than District 102's.

The three districts are wealthier than most around the state.
