In her letter, Peterson called her resignation a "difficult decision, as I have enjoyed every moment of service to La Grange."
She offered to help with a search for her replacement and a seamless transition.
"La Grange is an exceptional community, and for the sixteen years that I have been with the Village, it has been an honor to be a part of its continued growth and development," she said.
Peterson became the assistant village manager in Hinsdale on the day of the La Grange Village Board meeting.
In praising Peterson's service at the meeting, officials did not mention her new job specifically, but referred to her "new role" and "new opportunity."
Peterson did not mention the Hinsdale job in her letter.
The assistant manager's job in Hinsdale is a newly created position. On Monday, Patch filed a public records request with Hinsdale about how the village went about creating the job. Officials have not returned requests for comment.
