Park Jr. High Service Club Book Drive Supports Bernie's Book Bank

District 102 Students Give Back During Children's Book Drive

The Service Club at Park Junior High School in La Grange Park recently ran a children’s book drive to support Bernie’s Book Bank. Bernie’s Book Bank sources, processes, and distributes quality books to significantly increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout Chicagoland. The goal of the book drive was to collect 1,500 gently used and new books. During the November 6-20th fundraising period, Park’s Service Club managed to double their goal. Members of the Service Club helped advertise the drive by spreading the word, making posters, and promoting it on school announcements. They came to meetings to strategize a plan, reached out to local librarians, and helped arrange and box the books up into the bins for pick up.

“They just came and rolled up their sleeves ready to work,” said Geri Pasieka, Service Club co-sponsor.

Park’s Service Club is looking forward to many other ways to serve their school and community throughout the remainder of the school year.

“This is just a start of the many service activities they have in mind,” stated Kathleen Malloy, fellow Service Club co-sponsor.
