Political Debate Prompts Call To La Grange Police
Facebook discussion resulted in a disagreement between a La Grange resident and another person.
LA GRANGE, IL — Political discussions on Facebook can get nasty at times. In one case last week, La Grange police were called.
According to a police report, a resident in the 300 block of South Edgewood Avenue told police Wednesday he differed with another Facebook user whom he only knows by name. The subject of their disagreement was Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky's position on anti-lynching legislation.
The other person did not make any direct or terroristic threats against Paul or anyone else, the report said. The resident, however, told police he felt the person's comments were inappropriate. Police advised the resident to block the user's profile.

Proposals to pass national anti-lynching legislation have failed for more than a century. In the latest case, Paul has stalled the bill.
According to The Associated Press, Paul called lynchings a "horror" of American history and said he supported the bill, but wanted it adjusted because the language is too broad.
