Secret Out: LTHS Board Members Have Email Addresses

LA GRANGE, IL – Lyons Township High School board members quietly got school email addresses in recent times.

The school has yet to publish the contact information on its website.

The board has long maintained a general email address for the board, although it is unclear who gets those messages. Patch has never received a reply from the account.

As of late last year, board members were apparently still using private emails for board business. When Patch obtained documents through records requests earlier this year, the school blacked out their private email information.

It has been difficult to reach board members. Through the recent election campaign, Patch obtained contact information for members Jill Beda Daniels and Tim Albores, but none of the other five.

Patch learned of the addresses when it recently filed a request for the latest emails sent by each member to the school.

Patch wanted to see if members were communicating by email with the administration. It expected to see the private email addresses blacked out, but discovered the members were using school email accounts. The school started giving the accounts in mid-June, a spokeswoman said.

Other large districts, including Elmhurst District 205 and Hinsdale High School District 86, have long published their board members' email addresses. The same goes for the villages of La Grange and Western Springs.

While Lyons Township High School may be unwilling to publish the email addresses, Patch is doing so, given it is public information.
