2018 Lake County Early, Mail Voting Surpasses Previous Turnout

More voters had cast their ballots by Wednesday than in all pre-Election Day voting in the 2014 gubernatorial election.

WAUKEGAN, IL — More Lake County voters have cast their ballots in early voting or mail voting as of Wednesday than in the entire 2014 midterm elections, according to the clerk's office. In the gubernatorial election four years ago, which had a 50 percent voter turnout, 39,351 voters cast their ballots early. This year, the clerk's office has already received more than 43,656 early votes.

As for mail voting, the clerk's office received 27,356 mail-in votes, as of Tuesday, up from 25,579 for the entire 2014 election.

  5. Antioch Township Office, 1625 Deep Lake Road, Lake Villa — 3,552
  6. Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville — 3,513

There are a total of 16 early voting sites. All voters in the county may vote at any early voting location regardless of where they live, so early voting totals may reflect the spots that are most convenient rather than the turnout among people who live around the location.

Same-day voter registration is available at all early voting sites through Nov. 5, as well Election Day at your assigned precinct from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Find your polling place.) If you're already registered you can preview your ballot and more.

Voters need not vote for every race on the ballot, but Illinois law requires the election judge to let voters know before it is officially submitted if they did not vote for any statewide offices. If voters make any mistakes while filling out a ballot, they can request a fresh one before it is cast.
