3 Local Schools Make Magazine's Best of List in Lake County

Lake Forest High School and 2 elementary schools earned spots on the publication's ranking.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Three schools in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff were named to Chicago magazine's list of the best schools in Lake County, which was released this week.

The schools that were ranked included Lake Forest High School at No. 3, as well as Lake Bluff and Cherokee elementary schools, rated ninth and 10th, respectively. In Lake County, Half Day School in Lincolnshire earned the No. 1 ranking among elementaries, and Libertyville High School took the stop spot in its category.

Teaming up with nonprofit group RTI International, Chicago magazine created the criteria for its best of lists—divided by county and school level—based on test scores, attendance, spending per student, graduation rates (for the high schools) and other data taken from the Illinois Board of Education. The publication hasn't done this type of school analysis and ranking since 2012.
