All LFHS Students Will Receive Chromebooks

Incoming freshmen, juniors and seniors will receive the devices sophomores have had for a year.

All students at Lake Forest High School will have school-issued Chromebooks beginning in the fall - according to the Lake Forester.

Last year, a pilot program provided Chromebooks to all then-incoming freshmen. This year’s incoming freshmen, juniors and seniors will all receive a school-issued device, coming at a total cost of $1 million to the district.

Before last year, a disparity was noticed as some students brought their own smartphones and laptops, creating variables between students such as speed, access and compatibility problems.

“It was really kind of hit or miss,” said Assistant Superintendent Barry Rodgers. “When the students bring their own devices, you bring on a whole set of additional problems.
