Board Member Who Made Anti-Gay Comment Could be Removed
District 121 board unanimously adopts resolution to remove Liz Biondi

The Lake County Regional Office of Education will decide the fate of Warren Township High School District 121 school board member Liz Biondi, who during a December 2 meeting stated that the board should be careful not to hire a “gay or lesbian superintendent” because that would be a distraction for the school.
The Lake County News-Sun reported that a resolution to remove Biondi was approved 5-0 by the school board during their Tuesday, December 16 meeting. The next step in the removal process would be the send the resolution to Regional Superintendent of Schools Roycealee Wood, according to the News-Sun.
More than 2,500 people signed a petition to remove Biondi initiated by a District 121 english teacher.

Several members of the public spoke at the December 16 meeting in agreement that Biondi should be removed from her post.
