Booze-Serving Starbucks to Open Next Month

The coffee shop will move to its new location on North Western Avenue, bringing a new menu that will include beer and wine selections.

LAKE FOREST, IL — In April, the Lake Forest City Council created a new liquor license to allow businesses like Starbucks to serve beer and wine. Now, it appears the coffee shop chain's Lake Forest location will put that license into use in September.

But first, the business will move Sept. 17 from its North Bank Lane address to new accommodations at 672 N. Western Ave., according to the Daily North Shore. With the addition of the coffee shop, this new location has added tables and chairs to its lawn area to allow customers to enjoy a latte—or possibly a merlot or a pale ale—outside, weather permitting, the report added.

The addition to alcohol to Starbucks' menu is part of its Evenings Program, an initiative to offer food and drink that goes beyond pastries and coffee. Under the new liquor license, Starbucks can only serve beer and wine after 5 p.m. The coffee shop's current hours of operations are from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
