Carly Rousso Will Not Get Credit for Time Served for Days She Was Confined in Psych Units Before Trial

Judge denies her lawyer's motion Wednesday.

Carly Rousso, the Highland Park woman who killed a 5-year-old girl while high after huffing an aerosol cleaner, will not receive prison-time credit for 99 days she spent locked down in psychiatric facilities before her conviction.

“I’ve been doing this a long time and I can’t remember a time when a defendant was not given (prison) credit for time served in a psychiatric hospital,” Stone said Wednesday morning in court, per a Chicago Tribune Media Group report.

Judge James Booras agreed with prosecutors and denied the request. Among the reasons she was in treatment prior to trial, prosecutors said, was because she was caught under the influence of an inhaled intoxicant while she was free on bond.
