Convicted Lake Forest HS Teacher Resigns; Sentencing Delayed

Albert Macius steps down as math teacher. His sentencing in connection with inappropriately touching a 17-year-old student is rescheduled.

A Lake Forest High School math teacher found guilty after being accused of kissing and inappropriately touching a 17-year-old female student has resigned from his post while he awaits to be sentenced, the Daily North Shore reports.

Albert Macius was found guilty Feb. 8 of two counts of misdemeanor battery in connection with claims that he kissed and touched the leg of the student in May of 2015 while tutoring her at her Lake Bluff home. Macius was arrested and charged in the incident in August of 2015.

Sentencing was scheduled for Thursday, but had to be moved to May 25 because of a scheduling conflict, the North Shore reports. Macius could face up to a year in jail, a fine or both.

Earlier in the week, the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education accepted Macius' resignation at its April 11 meeting, according to the Daily North Shore. The district had been working to fire Macius since October of 2015.
