Deer Path 6th Graders Succeed in Gardening

Students were able to grow cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and more.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Sixth graders in an Extended Learning Opportunities class at Deer Path Middle School learned quite a bit about gardening this fall.

The class provided the opportunity for students to research and plant a raised-bed garden, according to a District 67 news release. They had to find a suitable site for the garden, make measurements and determine the size of the beds and the plants that would survive there.

Students were able to harvest and enjoy cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce, watermelons, sunflowers, and marigolds.
