Dead Man Found After Lake Forest Garage Fire

Lake Forest firefighters extinguished the flames and found a man's body inside the garage.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Lake Forest police and fire departments are investigating the death of a man found a inside a burning garage Sunday.

Emergency services received a call of a fire on the 700 block of Waveland Boulevard shortly before 11:30 a.m.. There was light smoke coming from the garage, which firefighters extinguished within a few minutes. When they entered, they discovered the body of a unidentified man inside the garage, authorities said.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and the death. The Lake Forest Police Department did not say if the man died as a result of the fire.

The victim was a resident of the house but not the homeowner, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, Lake Forest Police Commander Craig Lepkowski told Daily North Shore.

The damage was limited to the garage and estimated at $1,000. There were no injuries or other people inside the house, police said.
