Ferris Fest Showcases Re-Creation of the Famous Bueller Bedroom (VIDEO)
Lake Forest's 30th anniversary celebration of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" lets you peek inside the title character's personal space.
Ferris Fest moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while before you plan to go, you could miss out on a lot of fun.
For instance, tickets for many of the events for this weekend's celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the iconic John Hughes film that was filmed around Lake Forest, Northbrook and the Chicago area, are already sold out. Some of those activities include screenings of the movie with cast members, a two-day, two-part bus tour and a 1986-era Shermer High School spring dance (SHS being Ferris' fictional alma mater).

But that doesn't mean fans of the movie that helped make Matthew Broderick an '80s star will be shut out of the celebration, which runs from Friday, May 20, through Sunday, May 22. Tickets are still available to see The Ferris Room, a detailed re-creation of the Bueller bedroom that will be on display during the entire celebration at Virgin Hotels, 203 N. Wabash Ave., Chicago.
Toronto artist and designer Sarah Keenlyside designed the room, carefully matching the details found in the film from the tchotchke figurines on the dresser to the now-antiquated synthesizer and desktop computer. Keenlyside built a similar re-creation for an art exhibition in January in Toronto.

"There's wealth in this room, there's technology that's waiting to happen," she said about re-creating Ferris' bedroom in a CBC News interview earlier this year. "He's got a very advanced computer for its time. It was sort of the cusp of the digital era."

Tickets for The Ferris Room are $10. That also includes an invitation for a special "Twist and Shout" parade re-enactment from 3 to 4 p.m. in downtown Chicago. Ticket holders will be sent an email notification with the location of the parade after purchase.
Although tickets for everything but The Ferris Room are sold out, a small amount of extra tickets might go on sale over the weekend, a Ferris Fest representative told Patch on Thursday.
Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite. Go to the Ferris Fest website and Facebook page for more information.
