Lake Bluff Cleans Up After Flood

Special trash collection and the Farmers Market are on for Friday, with some roads still closed.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — As waters recede, the Village of Lake Bluff announced some roads remain impassable but the regularly scheduled farmers market remains on for Friday. Many Lake Bluff village staff worked more than 12 hours to help residents stay safe throughout the day Wednesday, according to Assistant to the Village Administrator Glen Cole, who provided the following update Thursday morning:

Special Friday Trash Collection:

  • Special trash collection (no landscape waste) will be performed by Groot throughout the day Friday for all routes / residences in Lake Bluff.
  • Residents may place trash at the curb immediately.
  • The Lake Bluff Public Works Facility is OPEN. Trash, recycling, and landscape waste may be dropped off by Lake Bluff residents 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.   • The Scranton Avenue Viaduct is OPEN
  • Route 41 remains closed from Rt. 60 / Townline Rd to Rt. 137 / Buckley Rd due to flooding at the EJ&E bridge, but there is no estimated time to reopened.

Returning to Lake Bluff:
From the North:
To access east Lake Bluff from the north:
• Exit at Rt. 137 / Buckley Rd. and travel east
• Proceed east to Sheridan Rd, south to destination

To access west Lake Bluff / Knollwood from the north:
• Exit at Rt. 137 / Buckley Rd. and travel west
• Proceed west to Rt. 43 / Waukegan Rd, south to destination

From the South:
To access east Lake Bluff from the south:
• Exit at Old Elm Rd and travel east
• Proceed north on Green Bay Dr.
• Proceed east on Deerpath Rd. (and cross train tracks)
• Proceed north on McKinley Rd. / Sheridan Rd. to destination

To access west Lake Bluff / Knollwood from the south:
• Exit at Rt. 60 / Townline Rd. and travel west
• Proceed north on Rt. 43 / Waukegan Rd. to destination

Traveling across Lake Bluff:
To travel from east Lake Bluff to west Lake Bluff / Knollwood:
• Travel south on Sheridan Rd. / McKinley Rd. to Woodland Rd.
• Proceed west on Woodland Rd.
• Proceed north on Green Bay Rd. to destination.

To travel from west Lake Bluff / Knollwood to east Lake Bluff:
• Travel south on Green Bay Rd. to Woodland Rd.
• Proceed east on Woodland Rd.
• Travel north on McKinley Rd. / Sheridan Rd. to destination.
