Lake Bluff Obituary: Joanne Lomax Cerling

Joanne Lomax Cerling of Lake Bluff, IL died December 15, 2014 at Lake Forest Hospital. Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Bruce; daughters Mary Beth (Bill), Anne (Kenton), Carolyn (Michael), Peggy (Robert) and late son, John; grandchildren Jennifer, Chip (Ellen), Michael (Ashley), Brad (Rose), Ben, Colby, Riley, Emily, and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, William (twins), Nash, and Addison.
Born in Chicago, she attended Immaculata High School (1947), then graduated from the University of Illinois (1951), where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Bruce and Joanne were married at the Church of Saint Mary in 1951. They lived in Lincoln, IL for a few years. Then moved to Lake Bluff and raised 5 children who all attended School of St. Mary.

Joanne volunteered many years at School of St. Mary. She always cheered on the Cubs baseball, a true fan. Joanne cherished family and friends; she enjoyed keeping in touch via phone and email. Summer family reunions were a highlight of the year. She left a lasting impression on our lives and will be missed greatly.

Arrangements by the Wenban Funeral Home. Services are private. A memorial is planned for summer 2015. In lieu of flowers please contact Church of St. Mary www.churchofstmary.org, Midwest Hospice www.carecenter.org, or Heifer International www.heifer.org.
