Lake Forest Authorities Investigating Park Bathroom Arson

Police and fire department officials say a paper towel dispenser in a South Park restroom was intentionally set on fire.

Lake Forest police and fire investigators are looking for those responsible for a small fire in the men’s restroom at South Park that they suspect was arson, according to reports.

Fire crews were called to put out the blaze at the park, 150 Maywood Road, at around 4:12 a.m. Oct. 21, the Lake Forest police report stated. The fire damaged part of the restroom wall and a toilet stall, and smoke damage occurred throughout the men’s and women’s restrooms, the report added.

Investigators found that a paper towel dispenser in the restroom was intentionally lit on fire, the report stated. Witnesses provided authorities with the following description of a suspect seen fleeing the scene on foot, north along Maywood Road:

  • heavy-set white male in his early teens
  • brown, curly hair
  • wearing white shorts and a white shirt
