Goshgarian Defeats Desmond In 3rd Ward Lake Forest Election
The caucus-slated candidate emerged victorious in the race for the only contested seat on the Lake Forest City Council.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Lake Forest voters elected a new mayor and City Council members in the April 2 consolidated municipal election, but only one race was contested.
In the one competitive race to decided Tuesday, JoAnn Desmond, an organizer with the Alliance to Control Train Impacts on Our Neighborhoods citizen group, challenged orthodontist Ara Goshgarian, who was slated by the Lake Forest Caucus to replace outgoing 3rd Ward Ald. Jack Reisenberg. She came up short by fewer than 150 votes, according to unofficial results.
