Lake Forest Country Day School to Host Fifth-Annual David L. Genger Scientist-in-Residence Day
LFCDS Tradition will bring Dr. George Archibald, co-founder and Executive Director of the International Crane Foundation (ICF) to the School
On Monday, April 27, Lake Forest Country Day School will host its fifth-annual David L. Genger “Scientist-in-Residence Day” event at the School in the Green Bay atrium. Parents and guests of parents are invited!
Inspired by former Chair of the Science Department Dave Genger, current Chair of the Science Department Mark Arthur—working in tandem with Assistant Head of School Bob Bullard, faculty, and parents—helped launch the Scientist-in-Residence Day in 2011 to honor Dave and his incredible passion for learning and teaching.
Since 2011, LFCDS has hosted a handful of scientists who have educated students on career fields ranging from environmental study to holography at this cherished event. What makes this special day so unique is the personal connection that many students are able to make with these scientists, who spend much of their time telling students how they got involved in science.

This year, LFCDS is pleased to announce that it will host the co-founder and Executive Director of the International Crane Foundation (ICF), George Archibald. From 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Dr. Archibald will address the school on important scientific topics as they relate to conservation and responsible, environmental awareness. He will also educate the school and guests on the impact that ICF is making in the scientific community.
Founded in 1973, the ICF and Dr. Archibald have developed unique conservation programs that have inspired international cooperation, improved the livelihoods for people around the globe, and led to the protection of millions of acres of grasslands and wetlands on five continents where cranes live.

Last year’s “Scientist-in-Residence” Day involved past LFCDS parent and private fossil and meteorite collector Terry Boudreaux, as well as several premier scientists from the Field Museum. LFCDS is looking to build off of the success from last year.
