Lake Forest Country Day School Hosts 'Pioneer Days'
Activities included butter churning, bread making and archery lessons.
Third grade students at Lake Forest Country Day School were able to learn about the early days of American history recently by experiencing Pioneer Days, an experimental learning activity that puts students in the life and perspective of 19th century American pioneers.
Students got a glimpse of the learning environment that some of these settlers were immersed in while states were still being admitted into the Union. Activities included butter churning, writing lessons with “quills,” bread making and archery lessons.
The school thanks all parents and faculty who participated in dress and spirit for this year’s annual Pioneer Days and helped make the imaginative experience a memorable one.
