Lake Forest High School Beefs Up Security for the Fall
Visitors to the school will face extra screening during the new school year thanks to building renovations and a new computer database.
Lake Forest, IL—A new security system to screen visitors at Lake Forest High School is being installed over the the summer for the new school year with added features implemented in the spring, the Daily North Shore reports.
The school's main entry foyer currently is being remolded into a welcoming center so that officials can monitor visitors as they enter the school, the report stated. The center will replace the rest rooms and offices that are currently in that area, the report added.
Lake Forest's Spirit Store also will be moved from the basement to the welcome center area, according to the report.

In the spring, a new computer database—the Raptor security system—will be added that will allow school officials to screen visitors with a background check primarily focused on identifying individuals on the state's sex offender registry, the report stated.
With this new system, visitors will need to give officials a state-issued ID, which will be held the entire time the visitor is in the building, the report added.

The estimated cost for the entire security overhaul will run between $881,000 and $1.183 million after all the subcontracting bids on the project are in, the report stated.
