Lake Forest Obituary: Charles B. Fitzgerald III, 84

Charles B. Fitzgerald III, 84 of Lake Forest, died Dec. 28, 2014.

A fourth generation lifelong Lake Forest resident, Charles attended the School of St. Mary and Lake Forest High School. A plumber for 33 years with H. T. Strenger and proud 50-year member of the Lake CountyPlumbers Union Local 93, he also taught his craft to appreciative apprentices. Chuck supported his community as a Volunteer Fireman, Member of the Codes Commission, Senior Center Foundation and Parks & Recreation Board, and for 9 years as Shields Township Supervisor. “Mr. Fitz” served St. Mary’s as football coach for 30 years and member of the Church choir for 20 years. He also was a lifelong Notre Dame and White Sox fan.

Beloved husband of the late Joan K. Fitzgerald (2011); loving father of Charles B. (Donna Flinn) Fitzgerald IV, Sharon Fitzgerald and Michael (Maura) Fitzgerald; devoted grandfather of Chris, Lily and Jack; loyal brother of Lila (Zeke) Thurlow and the late Nancy (Larry) Smith and Claren (Dick) Kennedy; adored uncle & cousin to many; dedicated friend to countless.

Funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. Interment will be private.
