New Stop Signs On Edgewood Near Lake Forest High School

Lake Forest Streets Department installing two new stop signs near LFHS.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Lake Forest City Council recently approved the installation of new stop signs in 2 locations on Edgewood, just around the corner from Lake Forest High School.

These additional stop signs were recommended by the Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee after receiving continuous complaints about speeding cars on Edgewood, safety concerns about kids who walk and bike to and from LFHS and Sheridan School, and concerns about residents who live in the area and their kids who play close to the street.

Over spring break, the LF Streets Department will begin installing stop signs in two locations on Edgewood that will effect North and South-bound traffic on Edgewood Road traffic.

The two locations are:

  1. Edgewood and Spruce; will now become a 3-way intersection, with new stop signs effecting the north-south Edgewood traffic. Spruce already has a stop sign at the Edgewood intersection.
  2. Edgewood and Noble; will now become a 3-way intersection, with new stop signs effecting the north-south Edgewood traffic. Noble already has a stop sign at the Edgewood intersection.

White stop bars will be installed on the pavement at each new location. Temporary flags and/or streamers will be attached to the signs to increase the visibility of the new signs. In addition, Streets will have a temporary Stop Ahead sign set up on north bound Edgewood approximately half way between Rose Terrace and Noble Avenue and north of Spruce for S/B traffic.
