Panic Button to be Available for Lake Forest Teachers

District 67 board members approved the purchase of CrisisGo, a cell phone app, at latest meeting.

A cell phone app that operates as a panic button will soon be available to District 67 educators.

The Lake Forester reports board members approved the purchase of CrisisGo at a cost of $4,000 a year for teachers and administrators to use in crises such as a school shooting or a chemical leak near a science lab.

CrisisGo would also “tap Lake Forest’s attendance software to let administrators know which students are in what classrooms and who stayed home sick,” according to the article.

A mobile map of the school building would let employees know where to take kids and what parts of the school might be dangerous. Along with notifying authorities, the app also would hold a copy of schools’ emergency response manuals.
