“This ceremony marks the beginning of something very special,” said Middle School Principal Nathan Blackmer. “Those new to Lake Bluff Middle School tell me how impressed they are by the people they’ve met, and talk about the warm and positive atmosphere of our school community. What I find most exciting is that we will soon have a building that perfectly complements the amazing environment that already exists here, and that will inspire our students for generations to come.”

Work on the new additions has already begun, and construction crews will move in when the school year ends. The project is projected to be complete by Labor Day.

District 65 outlined all the goals of the project:

 Take academics out of the basement – to accomplish this a modern fine arts wing and a new classroom suite are being added;

 Improve accessibility and security at the front entrance and throughout the building;

 Modernize the science labs and bring a STEM lab to LBMS;

 Reimagine the library into an expansive, open, yet warm and inviting central meeting space that will be the heart of the building and bring a new energy to the entire facility; and

 Bring the District 65 office back to the schools – it will move from its current location in an office building off Waukegan Road into the newly renovated lower level of the building.
