Unconfirmed reports indicate a person wearing body armor was shot dead. Soft lockdown of District 6 schools lifted.

ZION, IL - A lockdown for all Zion School District 6 schools has been lifted and all normal activities have resumed after a shooting in the 2000 block of Ezekial Ave. Wednesday morning around 8 a.m.

Unconfirmed reports indicate a man wearing body armor was shot dead in a police-related incident.

According to an earlier report by CBS-2-Chicago, one person was taken into custody, and Zion police indicated no one else was involved.

“Due to police activity in the area all schools within Zion Elementary District 6 have been placed on soft lockdown per the request of the Zion Police Department,” the district stated earlier.

An updated statement indicated normal dismissal hours will be met and regular activities are now being held. James Valles, a journalist for BNO News, reported via Twitter a man wearing body armor was “shot dead” near Lakeview School, which is at 22nd St. and Bethesda Ave. in Zion.
