Vomiting Driver Who Admits to Having 3 or 4 Drinks Charged With DUI: Cops

DUI

Gage T. Shelton, 21, of Knoxville, TN, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a June 25 traffic stop.

Police met up with Shelton at about 12:50 p.m. at Deerpath Road and Route 41 after receiving a call about a pulled-over vehicle. At the scene, Shelton still had his vehicle's lights on, and he was vomitting.

Officers spoke with Shelton, who admitted to having three to four drinks. A strong odor of alcohol also was detected on Shelton's breath, according to police.

Shelton was taken in to custody after failing field sobriety tests, and he was released on $3,000 bail. His court date is July 22.

DUI

Nugussea G. Teame, 32, of the 4200 block of Greenleaf Court, Park City, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a property damage accident after a one-vehicle crash June 19.

On a call at around 3:43 a.m. about a disabled vehicle, police discovered a downed light pole along northbound Route 41, north of Westleigh Road, that looked like it was hit by a car. Officers then found an unoccupied vehicle with its air bag deployed and its front end damaged in a nearby wooded area.

Eventually, police located Teame and determined that he had been driving the vehicle and that no one else had been with him. He later admitted to drinking and failed field sobriety tests.

Teame was released on $3,000 bail, and his court date is July 22.
