Woman Charged With Murdering Husband Who Filed For Divorce
Police said she admitted stabbing her husband before wounding herself and fleeing the scene. Her bail has been set at $3 million.

WAUKEGAN, IL — The woman who called police to alert them that she had just stabbed her husband in their Waukegan home has been charged with first-degree murder.
Ayesha Siddiqui, 47, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her husband, Raoof Siddiqui.
The 38-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in the couple’s home in the 4400 block of Swallowtail Drive on the morning of Nov. 20 after his wife called 911 to report she had just stabbed her husband, according to police.

The Lake County coroner said preliminary autopsy results show Mr. Siddiqui died as a result of “sharp force trauma.”
Court records show that Mr. Siddiqui had filed for a divorce from his accused killer less than a week before his death. A suit was filed Nov. 14 for a dissolution of marriage with a minor child in Lake County court.

Police said Mrs. Siddiqui fled the scene, but arriving officers followed her more than two miles before taking her into custody on Belvidere Road in Park City.
Police said she was suffering from serious wounds at the time of her arrest, which she admitted to inflicting on herself. She was hospitalized at the time of her arrest before attending a hearing Wednesday where a judge set her bond at $3 million.
Mrs. Siddiqui is being held at Lake County Jail in lieu of the $300,000 cash portion of her bond. She is due back in court for a preliminary heading Dec. 26
